Special 30
While the
topic of being ‘PLACED’ is already grooming everyone’s mind, our college D K T
E is providing soft skills training sessions on aptitude, group
discussions & other aspects of a campus drive. Apart from this, at
departmental level, the Electronics & Telecommunication Department has
started an all new experiment to collect young minds & shape them with most
suitable workplace environment & facilities, upgrading them to ‘EMPLOYABLE’
from being ‘Just ELLIGIBLE’. The department aims at finding the best 30 minds
from the crowd of 69 students by consulting all the concerned faculty
feedbacks, considering over-all performance in these 2 years, skill sets they
possess & finally their academic performance.
Here are 5 bullet point expected outcomes and benefits of
this program, according to my perspective.
‘Employable’ is different from ‘Eligible’
Though many students meet
basic company criteria & are eligible for placement, they lack in many
other areas expected by the HRs, and thus, such programs will surely help in activating
majority of the crowd towards orienting them professionally.
Efficient time utilization
The final year is already a peak time for any engineer.
Students are overloaded by their projects, maintaining sharper academic
results, demonstrating various models, preparing for exams like GATE, GRE, etc.
In this regard, department has decided to provide some relaxation in their attendance
& other submissions to some extent.
Appreciable!!!
Need of the hour
Looking towards the current placement scenario, it is the
need of the hour to start some new experiments to make a serious rise in
training and placement activities & increasing number of students setting
their positions in MNCs or any other company in general.
Choice specific program
In the class of 69 students, we aren’t herd of sheep, heading
blindly behind each others. Many are interested in placement. But this doesn’t deny
the fact that we have others, interested in competitive exams, further studies
in M.S, M.Tech or young entrepreneurs & other professionals. There is no
point in teaching an elephant to swim or a fish to survive on land. Thus,
selecting the concerned students with their own needs of adaptability in a
company is somewhere in its own a wiser step in moving towards Ideal Education
System.
Dost hi dost ke kaam aata h
A friend in need is a friend indeed..!!
Though,
due to constraints, only 30 students will be selected in this program, this
nowhere means remaining students will be completely deprived of these facilities.
The 30 students, if undertake only a single friend of their own, to share their
experience & learning, will in turn teach 30 fresh students, benefiting the
former with revision and the latter with learning material. Also it will help
the department in saving their time and energy & thus, all in all, has
interconnected benefits for all, if seen as an opportunity.
According to me, this should be seen as a helping hand for
all the students and try to get best out of it.
The above discussion is a joint contribution of all the
students from Third Year Electronics & Telecommunication Department, during
the group discussion on 14th of March,2015. Contribution of our
trainer Mr.Prassana Joshi sir is great in orienting the discussion properly.
Critics and other contributions are most welcomed..!!
