Growing years, grown too fast!
Well, it took hours together to compile the title for the
blog, and hope it might need some more corrections.
We have been taught from our childhood, that “All good things
don’t last forever”. They are just meant to create a hope, that life still can
be more happening and full of surprises. Just like shooting stars in the night
sky, no matter for how short time does they appear, it makes us interested. And
so did it happen. A teacher, mentor, friend, a motivator, and daily tonic to
boost from boredom, Miss. Pooja Shetty Ma’am, or just Shetty Ma’am, as we used
to call, was one of those good or great intangible moments (must say!) of my engineering life.
It all started
with first circuit simulation practical, in my second year of engineering, that
we all got introduced and interacted for the first time. Not having any
knowledge on circuits, that time, I had no clue on what to answer on circuits,
but it was always a fun to interact, ask questions that might sound silly to
others, and always getting proper and positive response against it.
May it be called as hyperbole, or an exaggeration or a fact,
mathematics was never so easy, as it was with Signals and Systems. Though many
of the concepts bounced between some analog, digital, discrete, continuous
signals, or some tricky convolution theorems, which never reached our brains
from reference books, the Xeroxed (I mean photocopied) notes, though derived
from the same books, helped a lot to clear basics at the least. And same
repeated for MATLAB, Digital Signal Processing and all other series of
engineering stuff we learnt. Wouldn’t get to the technical aspects, but the way
things got delivered to us are worth counting. And yeah, apart from those
lecture hours, staff room was always available, and occupied!
The following two years just passed as they came.
The real tough test of time came in our final year projects. Apart
from just a teacher, I would like to mention ma’am as a motivator and coolest
friend. I still remember the day when me and my project partner Chandrashekhar
approached ma’am for our idea on 3D printer. Well, a 3D printer? Yes, a device
that actually creates a physical model of your imagination. No one of us was
sure on its success, or our capability to sustain such projects, or is there
any strong planning on how the things would go. It was quite obvious that the
idea was just unrealistic at that moment and was possible to be kicked off! In
initial phases, it didn’t seem possible & we approached ma’am to change our
project to Quadcopter. It was ma’am who insisted us to stick to project in
initial phases of few months, and later on switch to other project if the
things still didn’t go well. Umm, for now, I feel proud that we are working on
3D printer with good success till date, with nearly more that 40% completion in
mere 2-3 months and things going quite well and comfortable. Well, this was
majorly due to sort of freedom of switching and proper guidance. It actually
helped out in moment of confusion with simple but relevant answers.
An admirer or any other, I feel like if I were to describe
ma’am, I would probably run short of adjectives!!!
And again, coming to the first thing, “Good days don’t last
forever”, well I think this can be an exception. Though ma’am is leaving for
now, officially, being in touch isn’t a matter of concern, (haha, being
Electronics and Telecommunication engineers, sarcastically!) in days of overgrowing
social media and increased communication. Let’s hope, as the Hindu mythology
says that karma repeats itself and
life is a cycle of repeated moments (hope that’s true!), we meet in coming days
again. I know it’s hard to accept for
us, as much it is for ma’am too, you will always be remembered.
We all, B.E. E&TC 2016 batch, DKTE, will always miss you
as much as you miss us too, and we all will always be there for you.
Best luck for coming Years. Happy journey!
It was great time growing!
